WebFeb 10, 2024 · The existing church is dedicated to All Saints; the earlier churches are said to have been dedicated to St Peter and St Paul and, though there is no record of the change, there may well be some truth in the tradition for in 1264 the rector was granted the right to hold a three-day fair at the festival of St Peter and St Paul. WebThe church is Early Decorated English, has a lofty octagonal spire, and contains a fine carved oak pulpit. It was restored at a cost of £3500 in 1889. There are Wesleyan and Primitive Methodist chapels and several useful charities. Some very interesting Roman remains were discovered in 1874.
