WebThe Tan-Kotes, Bag-Kote, Resolene, or Mop 'n Glo (poor man's resolene) seem to be acrylic type coatings of various levels of gloss. Their gloss looks a bit plasticky to me, depending on how much is applied. I like that look, and I use those too, but as topcoats to prevent a piece from gaining as much patina. WebMay 15, 2015 · Tan-Kote is not sold as a waterproofing finish. Still, I thought it would be better than nothing at all. The bottom has two coats of Tan-Kote, the top is oil/wax. I took the pic as soon as the water hit the leather. That's a shadow at the top. There's no water uptake under the wax. What is Tan-Kote for? I won't be using it again as a finish... There may be better quality and higher priced products out there but, at my level of experience, I depend on a name on which I can trust without question and Fiebings is that name!
